CITYLINK TramTrain

The new light rail vehicles for the "TramTrain" project

Six transport companies from Germany and Austria have joined together to create the “VDV TramTrain Consortium”. Two years ago, they placed the largest order in Stadler’s history to date. The contract includes the delivery of up to 504 CITYLINK vehicles, 246 of which have already been ordered, as well as a maintenance contract for up to 32 years.

Now, for the first time ever, the first train will be exhibited at InnoTrans 2024. This vehicle will be operated by Saarbahn. The tram-train is equipped with the latest technologies in terms of its traction system, signalling and radio systems, and communication and passenger information. The vehicle being presented is a bi-directional vehicle with a length of 37 metres and a carriage width of 2.65 metres. The interior features 100 comfortable seats and space for 133 standing passengers. Like all CITYLINKs, it can travel at speeds of up to 100 km/h.

The CITYLINK is a modular, barrier-free low-floor light rail vehicle family that offers a high standard of safety and travel comfort. They can be operated on both tram and railway lines and are perfect for transporting passengers between city centres and surrounding municipalities with no transfers.
